Back to normal

Knock on wood, Riley is over the whatever it was that made us all miserable for a week and a half. Needless to say all last week was an exhausting one for Mommy.
Now for the weekend review (nothing too exciting)
Saturday Riley and I went to a 4-H Fair at the Chino Fairground. I found it interesting and Riley was so excited to see so many animals. She kept saying "Mama whats this all about" . I tried explaining what a 4-H club is but I lost her. Lets face it she has her own little 4-H fair in the back yard and she thinks everyone does. We saw rabbits (not so great, we have 10) geese, chickens and cocks! (I have been dying to use that word properly, can ya tell?)
We went home scrubbed up and baked some delicious brownies.... no "special" ingredients were included in this batch SORRY!
Sunday was Costco day! YEAHHHH. I forgot to check my calendar, because it was my lucky day.... Not only did get front row parking spot, but Costco was embracing N.C.T.A.D.... That stands for National Camel Toe Awareness Day! Yep that's right people my biggest peeve the camel toe was out in full force... There is no excuse for this fashion mistake. Look in the damn mirror before you leave the house, if it feels to tight its probably not right. Ladies NO ONE wants to see your moose knuckle in a pair of skin tight sweatpants. I was surprised to see even young girls sportin the toe, it must be a new trend. I went up and down the aisle, only to find one C.T. after another walking towards me on the prowl. I was so scared! Any who my whole Costco experience was ruined! \/\/= stay home
From there Riley and I went to the park and collected pine cones; 32 to be exact, they are in a bag in the backseat of my car. I managed to talk her out of bringing home 12 Lady bugs.. whew
We sat in the warm sun, and it was so nice. I cant wait for summer, ohhh that reminds me I better stop eating now, bathing suit season is approaching. lol
Then we went home and washed my car.
I had an awesome weekend spending time with my healthy Riley Ann. (So thankful she is not sick anymore)

I survived the weekend..

Lets start with Friday AM, I'm getting Riley ready for preschool, two steps away from hopping in the car and she lets me know that she had an accident. So not like Riley..... I discover that this accident is diarrhea.... After a wardrobe change, Riley is determined to go to school, so I take her... 20 mins late.... I hate to be late!
I experienced a typical day at work and around 400 PM headed on over to pick up my little darling. She was the last one in her class, which is unusual. Her teacher reminded me it was spring break and most of the kids week on vacay this week.... Ohhh, I zoned out for a few seconds, reminiscing of how nice spring break was. I got a little bitter thinking why doesn't adult live have a spring break?
Riley snaps me back to Earth with the guilt trip of being the last kid there...... Mrs. April proceeds to tell me Riley didn't feel like eating lunch and wasn't her chipper self today. Hold the phone who is the "chipper" kid you speak of? Then I get a tad bitter for 2 reasons: #1 Why don't I get to see this "chipper" child more often and #2 I to pay these people to chill with her a few days a week and Riley feels it necessary to be nice... Hmmmm while poor old mom get the shit fits and attitude.. That little trader!
Any who I noticed a rather large rash on the back of her calf that she has been scratching all day. I text a pic to my Bro-in-law and Sis (both in the medical field) they say it looks like poison oak. I would have shown my Mom (also in the medical field) but this was her BINGO time and she would'nt answer the phone. Sooooo how appropriate Miss Riley Oakes has poison oak! I put some chalky pink lotion on it (the name escapes me at the moment) and put up with her grumpy butt until bed time. I grabbed her blankie out of the dryer and this was right about the time I discovered that the prior load of laundry contained some sort of grease or tar. It was all over her blanket.... did I mention there is not substitute for this "woobie". I sat and sympathetically listened to her for an hour, before telling her to play in her room, Mommy is tired and going to bed!
Saturday AM the rash is double the size and just plain ugly. So we drove to Urgent Care and waited, waited, got a room, waited some more... only to be told it was dermatitis. An inflammation of the skin .. well duh? I got a steroid cream and we were home bound.
Saturday night rolls around and shes still not over the spots on her blanket, now she wants her Daddy, who is in Vegas living up I'm sure.... All while I'm here with fussy butt. NOT FAIR! I get her to bed and she woke me up every hour with diarrhea or puke. After taking a shower at 230 AM and 415 AM, I have come to the conclusion that I can only handle 1 child. I'm feeling super guilty that I even contemplated letting her sleep in the bath tub because we are all out of clean towels and carpet cleaner. Isn't that so mean?
Sunday Daddy was back and Riley was happy and feeling OK. We took a nap and had a quite dinner. After dinner Riley played on the computer while I sat on the back patio and enjoyed a frosty drink, few chapters in a great book by the Dalai Lama; all while watching 12 bunnies, 2 tortoises, 2 bulldogs and 1 cat co-mingle peacefully in the sun set. Awwww it was pure bliss.
Now somebody has a case of the MUNDAYS.. As if I wasn't on the edge mother nature dropped off her monthly gift and the A/C is out at the office.... I got 50 emails regarding the A/C outage, just in case I couldn't distinguish there was an issue for myself. Its freaking HOT... I'm going to go home and take a nap! I am going to blame it all on PMS. The end

Flashback Friday...YEH

Me, Lynn (BFF) & her oldest sis Sara at a Dixie Chicks concert in 2000. I wasn't so much into the music much, just there to have a good time with the girls. Awe I miss being blond.. being a brunette the last few months just isn't as fun. Not have roots all the time is the only cool part.

Ya I'm a little odd, but so is my family and this is proof. My sister went to Vegas when she saw this 4-pack of Cat Butt Drink Coasters; she immediately thought of me. (How sweet) I laughed so hard i cried, because I have never been a cat person until a friend of mine gave me her cat. Spanky is the (pictured below) is a giant puff ball that has changed my mind about cats. He is such a good pet and I can only guess that it because I didn't raise him.
The funny part about this is that Spanky needs to be groomed around the rear end so that "things" stay clean. A few months ago I confessed to my sis that I have used Brett's mustache trimmer to shave up Spanky's butt hole.. I don't believe that Brett is aware of this monthly occurrence. What, I cleaned it off after I was done with it. What is so wrong about that? DON'T JUDGE ME!
Brett thinks the coasters are mildly amusing...... Oh if he only knew.

Part 2

  • Mike & Bubba both got baths..... Yeh for everyone... They were STINKY! Sorry I can't do anything about the gas. Who needs Glade Plug-in's, when you have these mobile air fresheners.. Seriously Bulldogs have the worst gas ever. Think about that before you get one.

  • This is how she likes to spend her afternoons. I don't complain I can get a little yard work done and she gets fresh air.

  • Riley has a little Captain in her. Some would say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. This is how we spent Easter evening.

  • I didn't forget the bunny tracks.

We had a great Easter at Mom & Dads. Lots of crazy laughs, food, family and candy, what could be better?

The BEST news of all I am going to Vegas for the weekend for a wedding.. It is Mardi Gras Masquerade themed. should be interesting, I will definitely post pictures...

Severely neglected...

I would like to promise not to severely neglect my blog ever ever again but that would just make me a big fat liar... I seriously don't know how my fellow bloggers with 1+ children do it. I want to post all the cool happenings around our house; however, at the end of the day, sleep always emerges victorious in the battle between sleep vs. blogging. I seriously love to sleep! I promise not to let a month go by without posting, if you can live with that so can I.
  • Riley and I started an indoor herb garden (not that kind of herb), complete with catnip. She can't wait to give it to Spanky so "he can go CRAZY". We will be transplanting them outside some time this week.

  • These little jerks..oops I mean pets will probably destroy the herb garden. Once they get a whiff of plants thriving in the front yard, it will be their life's mission to get under the gate and eat em' up. So thanks to Hibbity, Hop & Philbert, the lush green flowering paradise that was once my front yard is non-existent.

  • Riley had her first Spring Program performance at school. She was so animated and surprisingly the large crowd of parents and cameras flashing didn't bother her one bit. They sang all kinds of cute songs, my sis & I couldn't stop laughing, then I look over at my Dad & Riley's Dad both have tears in their eyes... It was very touching.

  • Riley & Brett at the Spring Program "After Party" I'm sure not the after party he is use to.. Awe How kids can change a person.

  • Daddy took Riley to the Long Beach Aquarium, I wish I had a better pic but I guess she got to control the camera for the day. I love that Brett takes her to the movies, Aquarium (her fav place) or just to run errands all day, just because. I think it builds self esteem and helps her realize that life does not revolve around time with Mommy. Plus I enjoy my quite time. I love that he is such a great Dad!
